UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles conform to the exact dimensions of the old handle.

The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are perfect for doors with multi-point locks which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same screws and spindle to secure them. They are easily fitted on any uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to fit any user. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, this helps to ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are generally used on UPVC double glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and styles.

The handles have been tested to at least 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

After you have determined the correct PZ size it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically rectangular or round in design with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions, allowing them to be installed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, and permit them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It depends on the use that your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.

There are cylinders that have been constructed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. There was a time when handles did not have a spring built into them and without this they tend to droop or  drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple feature is among the best methods to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of many kinds of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are a great cost-effective way to fix the problem of door handles that are that are sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and can extend the life of your uPVC door.
